The CRC 1333 Summer School – Fall 2023 took place from October 23 to 25, 2023 in Mannheim.
Our doctoral representatives Sofia Kolin (A08) and Patrick Probst (B04) organized the meeting and we all enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at the DJH Jugendherberge Mannheim International.
The program included short presentations by each of the doctoral students, grouped in teams based on different research topics, giving an overview of their current work and providing information about possible collaborations. In addition, the measurement techniques currently used in the respective research projects were presented.
A highlight of the scientific program was our guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Steven K. Hashmi from the University of Heidelberg on “Gold Catalysis: New Aspects from Material Science and Radical Chemistry”. Many thanks to him for the truly inspiring talk and to everyone for the lively discussion.
As a social and team-building activity of the summer school, our doctoral student representatives planned a fun city rally through Mannheim, where the teams, which were drawn by lot, had to find and photograph different places in Mannheim.
Thank you very much to Sofia & Paddy for their enthusiasm during their time as doctoral student representatives and for the organization of this wonderful summer school!
Best Presentation Award: Team “Small Powder, Big Surface” – Patricia Sonnenberg (B07), Selina Itzigehl (A04), Esengül Ciftci (A08) and Kristina Gjorgjevikj (A08) – Congratulations to the whole team!
Our newly elected doctoral representatives are: Liam Rautenbach(B06) and Alexander Beck (C03).
A warm welcome to Liam and Alex as our new CRC 1333 Doctoral Representatives, and thank you for representing the team until the next Doctoral Retreat in 2024!
