To enable large multiscaling molecular dynamics simulations of molecular transport in nanoporous materials CRC 1333 project leader Dr. Kristyna Pluhackova (A08) has acquired computer time for the next three years at the Erlangen National High Performance Computing Center (NHR@FAU). The computer time is essential for simulations of doctoral researcher Sofia Kolin within project A08 of the CRC 1333.
“I am extremely happy that we have been awarded such an amount of computer time over such a long period of time! This and the excellent technical support of the NHR@FAU will enable us to concentrate on the exciting science behind molecular transport in nanoporous materials.” comments KP.

The brand new massively parallel cluster “Fritz”, named after Friedrich, Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth (1711-1763), the founder of the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, comprises dual-socket nodes with Intel IceLake processors (72 cores and 256 GB per node) and HDR100 interconnect with direct liquid cooling of the processors. The GPU cluster “Alex”, named after an early FAU’s benefactor Alexander, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1736-1806), consists of 256 Nvidia A100 and 304 Nvidia A40 GPGPUs.
