As a partner of the Athena Group, we are happy to invite you to the following event on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science:
Thursday, February 29, 2024, 10:30– 12:30 am
University of Vienna, Austria
Topic: “Equal rights, but unequal careers?”
How equal or unequal are the conditions for working or even pursuing a career in science? This is the starting question for a lecture by coach Dr. Meike Lauggas, who has been supporting academics in German-speaking countries for many years with career planning, application processes, appointment negotiations and much more. Numerous statistics show the importance of gender in the academic context, but aspects such as social background or family migration history must also be taken into account. But how can it be determined whether it is professional or other reasons that are preventing progress? And what scope for action do individuals have in view of such findings?
The lecture will present content to stimulate discussion and reflection, and participants can contribute comments, their own experiences or questions at any time. Specific examples can also be worked on if desired.
Live-streaming in lecture hall 2D5 at Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research, followed by a discussion at the lunch buffet
Registration deadline is Thursday, February 22, 2024.
All interested CRC 1333 members are welcome.
